Hot Dog Party!

Tonight we celebrated Jeff's birthday, which is today, and our friend Tara's birthday, whose birthday is in a few days. Thanks to inspiration from Tara, we hosted a Hot Dog Party, complete with Tara's homemade chili, which was the hit of the party! We had a full hot-dog bar with ketchup, sauerkraut, cheese, onions, celery seeds, tomatoes, mustard, mayo, and more stuff that I can't remember. Afterwards we had ice cream sundaes. Yum! Jeff and Tara were kind enough to allow me to catch these candid shots of them enjoying their hot dog creations! (You'll notice an appropriate photograph hanging behind them of a famous "Lucky Dog" hot dog cart from the New Orleans French Quarter taken by Jackson Hill, our good family friend and extremely talented photgrapher. You can see his work at www.southernlights.com.) HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JEFF & TARA!

News from my uterus.

*WARNING: This post is going to be a bit graphic. Not find-things-out-about-Sarah-that-you-didn't-want-to-know graphic, but there will be a sonogram of Butter Bean and other tails from my uterus. If this is going to creep you out, check out the blog in another couple of days for pics from our trip to Molokai!

Okay, so Friday was our first trip to the OB in about 5 weeks. I was expecting her to tell me that I ave gained too much weight, and for me to look astonished and hope Jeff didn't admit to her that I've eaten ice cream every night for the last two weeks, but it turns out that I've only gained a pound since I was last there. I have no idea how this could possibly be the case since I have, I'll admit, eaten ice cream - albeit a small amount - every night for the last two weeks. Jeff says it's my muscles atrophying because I'm not working out like I used to. Thanks, muscles!

Anyway, we also got to do our first really thorough ultrasound, which was super-cool, until we caught a glimpse of the alien-baby that's growing inside me. I am going to spare everyone, and myself, that picture, but I have included one of the Bean's profile. The scanner doesn't do the shot justice; on paper you can see all the bones of the hand and arm. Creepy cool. Butter Bean was kind enough to label the sonogram for us - Check out how bad the handwriting is!

Jeff and I have just arrived home from our whirlwind trip to Molokai this weekend, so I am pooped. I'll post those pictures in a couple of days. They are spectacular!
